Every year, we calculate our paper usage for our products and in our business operations.  For every 217 lbs of paper we use, we plant 10 tree seedlings through our nonprofit partner, Sustainable Harvest International. Headquartered in the United States, Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) is an audited 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization ensuring the quality of their trees and planting. Each tree is hand planted with care by farmers in Central America. SHI's mission is to work together to create a just and sustainable world through transformative farmer training that nourishes communities and the Earth.  With the mass amount of deforestation occurring due to slash-and-burn agriculture, SHI provides training to support smallholder farmers in adopting regenerative farming practices that ensure a better future for the land and forests. As of today, SHI has planted over 4 million trees, restoring close to 30,000 acres of forest.

Project Learning Tree uses trees and forests as windows on the world to increase students’ understanding of the environment and actions they can take to conserve it. Since 1976, PLT has reached 138 million students and trained 765,000 educators to help students learn how to think, not what to think about complex environmental issues. 

Project Learning Tree helps develop students’ awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of the environment, builds their skills and ability to make informed decisions, and encourages them to take personal responsibility for sustaining the environment and our quality of life that depends on it. From its beginnings in 1976, PLT has exemplified high-quality environmental education.

Beads of Courage, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and teens coping with serious illness, their families, and the clinicians who care for them through our Arts-in-Medicine Programs. We believe in creating a context for caring transactions to transpire through our community and encouragement programs.

What is the last national park you visited?  Did you see Advice for Life in the association bookstore/gift shop?  We have been working with nonprofit park associations for over 15 years to create Advice that shares the beauty of each park and educates visitors what is so special about these treasured places.  The National Park Service (NPS) works closely with nonprofit park associations that have a mission to provide educational and interpretive products and programs to YOU!  These associations operate shops and raise money to give back to each park.
